It's that time of year where I write down what happened in 2025. Yes, you read that correctly. I write down what happened for a year that hasn't yet happened.

I started this ritual of reverse engineering my year ahead a few years back, and the accuracy astounds me!

I've used this technique for creating course content, writing these emails, getting clarity on a particular subject, and to see how my upcoming year will unfold.

So how do you see into your own future?

5 Steps to Reverse Engineering Your Future

1. Find a place where you won't be distracted. It's best to be in a place where you can write without interruption. I prefer silence, but you may have music on in the background. If I were to have music on, it'd be instrumental so the mind doesn't get hooked on the lyrics and out of the stream of information. But, play around and see what works for you.
   ​
2. Get out a pen and paper. I find writing gives me a more direct connection to the information stream, but you can try typing and see how that goes. Experiment. Do one session writing and the other typing, see which one gives you easier access and is more accurate.

3. Start with a phrase such as, "Looking back on 2025..." or "2025 was the year of..." and go! Start writing letting whatever wants to come out flow right out of your pen (or keyboard).
   ​
4. Have fun with it! It can be easy to judge what you're writing. DON'T. Don't censor yourself. Don't doubt what's coming through. That just cuts off the stream and limits your access. Have fun with it! Enjoy the process. See how much detailed information you can get.

   For me, there's this moment where I feel like I've dropped in and am fully tapped into the stream. I'm connected. I feel it in my whole body as if my body remembers it. Notice how it feels for you when that shift happens.

5. Enjoy the unfolding. I write and forget about it unless something happens down the road that sparks my mind, then I'll go back to read it and compare notes. That happened more than a few times this year, but this time it left me...

Shocked and Confused!

Several weeks ago I reread my journal entry from December 31, 2023 and I was more than astounded by the accuracy, I was shocked!

I had written, "sadly we lost one of the little ones." One of my mom's chihuahuas has congestive heart failure. It's been a rollercoaster these last several weeks. This little guy is still here, but he's not long for this world.

Here's another shocker, "Dad lost weight and he's been regaining his health slowly but surely. His legs healed, his eyes vibrant, much less pain."

Six weeks ago he fell and fractured his vertebrae.

Reverse engineering is very accurate for me, so I was utterly confused by what was happening. I had to come to terms with the fact that I got it wrong this time.

Apparently, a lot can happen in six weeks and the year wasn't over yet...

Well, dad is coming home from the hospital in a couple of days and he IS the healthiest he's been in years. He's lost weight, the light in his eyes has returned, his legs look amazing and he's not in much pain. 🥳

The information was right after all!

This is a very reliable method for me and I hope you'll have fun playing with it.
